Discover 1979 Coffee Monument

Tucked away on 1979 Coffee Monument, a cozy and vibrant spot nestled at 1681 Wagon Bow Way, Monument, CO 80132, United States, there’s a sense of calm that immediately pulls you in. The aroma of freshly ground beans greets you at the door, followed by a soft hum of conversation and the sound of milk steaming-a comforting rhythm for anyone who appreciates a well-crafted cup. Having visited this café several times, I can confidently say it’s not just a coffee shop; it’s an experience that feels like home for locals and travelers alike.

From the very first sip, you notice the precision behind every brew. The baristas here aren’t just employees; they’re craftsmen. They talk about coffee the way artists discuss color-each roast, texture, and temperature fine-tuned to perfection. During one of my visits, I had a pour-over from an Ethiopian single-origin bean that carried notes of blueberry and honey. It wasn’t just flavorful-it told a story of careful sourcing and roasting. According to the National Coffee Association, small-batch roasting enhances flavor clarity, and this place embodies that principle beautifully.

The menu extends beyond coffee, though. It’s a full spread that reflects both creativity and comfort. The avocado toast is layered on thick, crunchy sourdough, drizzled with chili oil, and topped with a perfectly runny egg. Their breakfast burrito, packed with eggs, green chile, and cheese, has become a local favorite. Even their pastries-especially the flaky almond croissant-taste like they’ve come straight from a European bakery. Every item pairs perfectly with their signature espresso or matcha latte. When chatting with the barista, I learned that many ingredients are sourced from local farms, supporting small producers in the Monument area-a detail that adds authenticity and freshness to every dish.

One thing I admire most is how this diner balances modern design with rustic warmth. Wooden tables, warm lighting, and soft indie music create a space where conversations feel unhurried. Families gather for brunch, freelancers tap away on laptops, and cyclists stop in for a post-ride cappuccino. The location itself is convenient, just a short drive off the main Monument exit, making it a great pit stop for those traveling between Denver and Colorado Springs.

In terms of quality, 1979 Coffee Monument sets a high bar. The staff’s consistency, attention to detail, and genuine friendliness build trust with every visit. Based on multiple customer reviews across Google and Yelp, it holds an impressive rating above 4.7 stars, which aligns with my personal experiences. Many visitors highlight the cozy ambiance and the exceptional balance between food and beverage quality-something not every café achieves.

While I’ve tasted great coffee in cities like Boulder and Austin, there’s something about this place that stands apart. Perhaps it’s the sense of community, or maybe it’s how every cup feels like it’s made just for you. As Dr. James Hoffmann, a well-known coffee expert, often notes, “the best cafés aren’t just about the beans-they’re about connection.” That sentiment rings true here. Each visit reminds me that good coffee isn’t just brewed; it’s crafted through care, patience, and passion.

If there’s one thing to note, it’s that seating can fill up quickly during weekend mornings, especially when brunch is in full swing. But even then, the staff handles the rush with grace, and the wait never feels too long. The turnover is steady, and the atmosphere remains relaxed-a sign of thoughtful management and customer care.

Every time I leave, I find myself already planning my next visit. Whether it’s for a slow Sunday morning or a quick weekday caffeine fix, this spot has earned its place among the best in Monument. The blend of authenticity, craftsmanship, and genuine hospitality makes it a standout example of what a neighborhood coffee house should be.

  • Pretty yummy cappuccino. Velvet creamy milk and well balanced coffee with a nutty flavor.

  • It's in the lobby of a church, so I wasn't expecting much, but the coffee was good, the service was friendly and helpful, and the views of the hills from the balcony were wonderful.

  • Free wifi, good coffee, usually pretty quiet. Chairs aren't terribly comfortable, so keep that in mind if you plan on sitting for a long time.

  • 1979 Coffee was exactly the type of place I was looking for to meet up with my friend! Peaceful, quiet atmosphere with beautiful mountain views out the large glass windows. I loved the natural light and the space was very clean. The price point was excellent for their drinks, and I enjoyed my Chai latte. I'm looking forward to going back!

  • Entrance is on the EAST side (facing i-25) of the building. Right off Santa Fe trail. Clean bathrooms, and an outdoor bike rack. Great addition to Monument coffee scene. They are an extension of Hold Fast coffee, and serve the same coffee but at a slightly reduced price. Coffee is top notch. 1 person crew during the week so wait times can get long if a large group comes in at once, but comfy seating area with a nice balcony (when open) overlooking the mountains. It's located on the 2nd floor of Woodmen Valley Chapel, so it doesnt really feel like a coffee shop. Worth it for convenience and price. Great in-and-out from the trail

  • The views are great! The atmosphere is very nice and study friendly, the prices are also fantastic! They didn’t add tax so I’m not sure if that’s already accounted for in the prices or if it’s something to do with the church but regardless I’m a fan! The service was sad, walked to the counter waited a bit until the barista looked up, makes ya feel weird, that and she didn’t make eye contact at all or smile as I’m trying to be a friendly customer. Not bad on the coffee shop but definitely need to implement some customer service training

  • I got a dirty chai and it was great. I arrived at the same time as a bunch of other people so there was quite the line for one person working. She was super nice but got totally slammed and I felt bad. Patience is key!
